What is portable appliance testing?
Portable appliance testing or PAT is a series of electrical tests to make sure the portable appliance is safe to use. It doesn’t mean the appliance is working – it means it is safe. For example, a TV might be safe to use but that doesn’t mean the TV is working properly. Being safe is different from working. A hoover can pass a portable appliance test but that doesn’t mean the suction on it is good.
